Lake Powell Fishing October 20, 2019 by Capt. Bill

Current fishing conditions are a 50/50 toss up on stripers. One day we are catching alot and the next day (zero). Small & largemouth early morning top water and trolling has produced some nice fish 1-3 lbs. The fish are the bonus as this is the best time to see and experience the quest and the grandeur of Lake Powell. A majestic Lake. A few pics from my trip Wednesday!   Tight Lines, Capt. Bill

Lake Powell Fishing Report September 30, 2019

Lake Powell Fishing Report 9-30-19 “It’s on the fringe” but for the fish that are stuffed to the gills they are pretty fussy. We are watching 1 day on boils only if they get hungry. If after boiling activity, trolling activity will produce more fat fish and I mean “fat”. Smallmouth are mixed in with the boils and are the 1-3 lb. fish. A 2lb. smallmouth will pull a 2lb. striper backwards and they are fighters as well. September Fishing is rated 50/50 depending on Read More +

So what is happening? The top layer (first few feet) of water has dropped from the summer 80’s to around 74 degrees. The fish are only active at very specific times to the day as to feeding and will improve as temps decline further. My summary for October Read More +

Lake Powell Fishing Report June 16, 2019

Lake Powell Elevation:  3597.55 Water Temp: 71 degree Water inflow is peaking at a foot a day and catching can be awesome one day and slow the next.  At this time, we have 2 schools that are still taking bait and one of them is 50 miles up Lake Powell so a full day charter is recommended.  The closer school is a 1/2 day charter.  Two week from now that could all change.  But we keep the reports fresh for what is working currently. Lake Powell Fishing June 9, 2019

per (jail birds) are the dominate target fish in the main channel at Lake Powell. The morning bite till noon is the best for action on bait. Keep in mind that the Stripers is a Salt Water predator species that roams the lake and most anglers visiting night find an agreeable school willing to be chummed but then fall short the next day wondering where they went.   Here are few factor I have learned: 1st scout up to 1/4 mile in either direction and Read More +

Lake Powell Fishing Report 5/19/19 by Capt. Bill

Fishing will be best between Spring Colder/Windy front prevailing. Trolling spawning points and baiting if fish have moved deeper. Patience is the only way and catch numbers will vary. Smallmouth and largemouth bass will be slower until weather stabilizes. The remainder of May and all of June are tops for the Fly Rodder as well. A fast sink 15′ tip and 8′ flurocarbon leader and tippett – heavy eye clausers 3-4″ (red and blue are the secret. The other secret are knowing where the Read More +
