Lake Powell Spring Fishing by Capt. Bill McBurney
Fishing Thoughts~Spring Lake Powell by Capt. Bill Every beginning starts about the same at Lake Powell but there are variables. This year we have a huge carry over of 2 dominate bait fish being thread fin and gizzard shad. The north end will produce more threadfin and the south more gizzard and some threadfin. How do you like to catch them? If fly fishing May & June in the back of canyons I recommend in the the south half and sometimes in early July for Read More +
Lake Powell Fishing Forecast March 8, 2018 by Capt. Bill
Lake Powell Elevation: 3615.08 Lake Powell Spring Fishing looks like Lake Powell came through winter with tons of bait fish which equates for a very healthy fishery. We will be trolling and locating our fishing grounds most of March up to this year 70 miles into the Interior. Bait locations to chum this summer and bait concentration locations are the key to success. The bait bite will ot be as strong on the lower end as the canyons will be the sweet spots we Read More +
Lake Powell Fishing Report January 29, 2018
Dear Anglers, Happy 2018 and hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season and a great 2017. We have have good winter fly-fishing season with the stripers. Unless it gets severely colder, I can usually count on a window for stripers to fee in the shallows. For Spring we have a wait and see to observe as to what is in store because of the lack of snow “so far” in the Rockies this year. A low run off will be a fair bait bite as Read More +

Lake Powell Fishing report for this week and probably next week. Bait fishing will be down about 45-50′. Top water still good at the upper end of Lake Powell. Waiting for cooler weather which is just around the corner and should make for great top water action for September & October. Some pics from my last trip. Had a wonderful time! Tight lines, Capt. Lake Powell Elevation: 3633.56 Water temp 90’s 40 miles up Lake is the sweet spot for baite fishing drifting anchovies. With storm swim baits and fly fishing clausers. Boils are scarce with full moons and evening fishing dusk till dark is best for this. Water temps need to drop 15 degrees for longer top water action fishing baits. My last 3 trips have been excellent. Here is photo (a bit fuzzy with glare from water) of Justin fly fishing Wednesday. We did very well. Look Read More +

Lake Powell Fishing Report by Ambassador Guides 5-14-17
Lake Powell Elevation : 3608.45 Water Temp: 67 degrees Small mouth stripers and few good walley these last few weeks are very hungary. The quality stripers are out there and move around so it’s a hunt to various locations hunting those fish (too many fish in the striper pool). Ambassador will not not keep poor underweight fish just the good ones for the best “table fare” for those who want to keep. I have been fly fishing, spin fishing and trolling and some bait!. It’s Read More +

Lake Powell Elevation: 3599.39 Water Temp: 60 Dear Anglers, Well fly fishing over chum in the main channel at Lake Powell and some back canyon are good with “better” coming. Hoping it doesn’t turn hot to soon as it changes alot of opportunity for the Fly Rodder. The other good news is that the bait, spoon and trolling fishing has gotten alot better as well. Lake Powell is rising at least 1 foot per week and the prediction from the “powers to be” is Read More +
