Lake Powell Fishing Report – Capt. Bill McBurney 8-28-22

Lake Powell Elevation: 3532.41

Water Temperatures: 80 degrees

Todd from Florida with a 7 lb. Striper 8-22

Lake Powell water temperatures have slowed the bait bite and best time to hit the water is at sunrise.  Scan and search the shorelines for little surface stripers feeding for your mornings top water and “fly fishing”.   For top water spin or bait cast, I recommend the zaraspook medium!

For fly fishing, a 7-8 wt. rod floating line and poppers white and black or large clauser minnows blue and white, chartreuse and white.  The bigger stripers and smallmouth are in the mix to the smaller fish hitting the surface.  Usually by 10 a.m. the action is gone, so if fishing longer I recommend trolling deep divers and crank baits which are your best  bet.

Another great catch from August Fishing
