Lake Powell Spring Fishing April 2020

Dear Anglers,

We are close to spawn time on the big pond which has the fishing moving toward their nesting and free spawn positions.  Smallies are not real aggressive in the zone yet so fish in that 15029 ft. window.  Look for optimum water temps of 60+ in the coming days.   Stripers are all over the place but not holding position as they still have bait fish to hunt.  It should be fair this year for the bait fisherman and there is some fish moving toward the favorite spring areas in main channel and the dam area.

Keep in mind – The ramp is open (and no fees into the park) and there are 100’s of vehicles there as I write this newsletter, also note “restrooms, R.V in Wahweap & Lone Rock and picnic areas have temporarily closed.  My good friend Ron Colby has Lake Powell Campground which is located at 849 Coppermine Road and the number is 928.645.3374 (www.pagelakepowellcampground.com) He is open and offers laundry, restrooms and sundries to guests with 100 spots available with hookups.   If you are fishing with us, he will honor a 25% discount and we hope everyone is on the honor system as he is a great guy!  If you call, and they are not sure about it at the front desk, let me know and Judy will contact Ron and get it corrected.  Right now people are loving the RV idea.  For food?  Judy at the Chamber has a dining option list updated daily on www.pagechamber.com.

For those who have booked and had to cancel due to the number of refunds we will honor deposits for future plans for a fishing trip up to 2 years.  The sudden shock to a forced shut down is a financial shock for more who rely on deposits to work at a later date we we truly appreciate it and will try to understand everyone’s different circumstances.

If you are a days drive form Lake Powell, then come and get the fish and fresh air need that is here.  I am hearing that motels will listen and may be a discount so it doesn’t hurt to ask.  Check with Judy at the Chamber judy@pagechamber.com or 928.612.2022 for any other questions as to what is open in town.  There are lots of good access to BLM lands to camp too!

Our 2 boats are ready and equipped for if needed and I will answer what questions you might need if your fishing and boating on your own.  Call me on my cell 928.606.0933

Stay safe on the water!
