Lake Powell Fishing Report April 28, 2019 by Capt. Bill
Fish are biting extremely well and all “species” and all methods of fishing including fly fishing. Water temps are ideal with low-mid 60’s. If you are planning a trip, book soon even into Fall as we are booking out fast this year with our regular fishing trips and our Lake Powell Experience trip (half fishing – half sight seeing). For those who want the best of both worlds. Castle Rock cut is still not open but with the warmer temps we should start to Read More +

Lake Powell Fish Report – September 21, 2016 Lake Elevation: 3611.26 Water Temperature: 73 – 75 F I made it back on the water this week after successful knee surgery. My doctor suggested using the knee as much as the pain would allow. I thought I should do more to hasten healing, so I incorporated my own plan for “fish-ical” therapy. I can highly recommend my techniques for improving knee strength and movement which include: trolling while sitting down with the knee elevated. (I Read More +

Lake Powell Fishing Report – by Capt. Bill McBurney 1-19-15
Either fly The lake has very little traffic and you can explore “hunt” the backs of all the coves and canyons. The chance for a “whopper” has increased. The catch can be “nil” at times but for me it’s the hunt and the quiet and a lot more wildlife and sight seeing too. Fly fishing, trolling and structure casting are the few of many approaches with bait fishing starting usually in the spring. Take advantage of our 10% off early booking for Spring today. Lake Powell Fishing Report 4-14-13
Fishing remains good this past weekend. Bigger stripers are on the feed and you can graph schools of bait fish close by when stripers are fat. 5-6 lb fish are the norm and fly fishing over chum is promising in the Main Channel on Lake Powell holding fish on points and shelves bordering deep water 300-400 ft. plus. Key to getting the bigger fish is to keep one line down below the feeding fish school for that possible “big strike for a 10lb plus”. Wind will be Read More +

My Catch – 7 of the 15 and nothing under 5 lbs. The Juvenile stripers on top at Lake Powell. Early morning and evenings . The 5+ pounders are below 20-40′ and the bigger ones yet somewhere in the mix of the bigger fish. Each day brings a different approach to things especially with water temps, cloud cover, wind and sun as everything effects the feeding pattern. There has to be food for these elements to work where the anglers and fish become one. For the latest video Read More +
Lake Powell Fishing Report August 5, 2012
Lake Powell Elevation: 3967.81 Water Temps: 85 The top water action is getting better and better daily and so is the chumming of anchovies. This is going to be the best Fall Fishing in years for fish averaging 3-8 lbs. This is due to the increase in bait buildup over the last decade and the introduction gizzard shad. Plus the opportunity for sume lunker encounters Lake Wide. Best Canyon for fishing I recommend Last Chance and Navajo. My last trip this past week with 5 Read More +
